The operation

Our client is an ASX listed mining company operating a high grade underground mine in Western Australia, with a proven processing facility on site and a clear pathway to becoming a significant base metals producer.

The business is at an exciting stage, transitioning from development into full scale production, with a strong resource base already in the ground and an experienced management team driving the next phase of growth.

The role

This is a Mine Geologist opportunity embedded in a greenfield underground startup, a rare chance to be part of an operation from day one. The role covers geological mapping and interpretation, grade control, drill hole planning, and working closely with the mine planning and technical services teams as the operation establishes itself.

It is the kind of role that does not come around often: getting in at the beginning of a new underground mine, with a quality ore body, proven infrastructure already on site, and a well backed company behind it.

Key duties

  1. Play an active role in the ramp up of both open pit and underground operations, supporting development and production as the mine establishes itself
  2. Geological mapping, sampling and data collection across the operation
  3. Contribute to drill program planning and day to day grade control, ensuring ore is accurately tracked and extracted efficiently
  4. Apply your geological knowledge to real mining decisions, from development headings to ore extraction optimisation
  5. Support reconciliation processes and contribute to internal and external reporting requirements
  6. Keep geological databases and systems current, accurate and fit for purpose
  7. Work closely with mining, planning and technical services teams
  8. Lead by example on safety, environmental responsibility and community relations

What you will need

  • Bachelor of Science in Geology
  • Previous experience in underground mining operations
  • Ideally some exposure to open pit mining operations
  • Base metals or precious metals exposure
  • WA manual driver’s licence
