Who we are

A specialist mining consultancy, not a generalist agency.

Most agencies that cover mining cover five other sectors alongside it. We do not. Every search Ezra Recruitment runs is a mining or resources search, and every shortlist is assembled by consultants who work in this industry and nothing else.

That matters because mining hiring does not forgive shortcuts. An open pit geotechnical superintendent is not a substitute for an underground one. A metallurgist from an iron ore circuit is not interchangeable with one from a gold or lithium plant. We treat discipline, commodity and open pit versus underground experience as screening criteria, not as nice to have.

Rather than assessing a CV in isolation, we benchmark candidates against the people already doing the job at your site, so you can see exactly where a shortlist sits against your current team before you spend an hour interviewing.

In their words

What clients and candidates say afterwards.

Attentive, responsive and adapted to the hiring needs as they evolved, consistently presenting candidates to fit the team dynamics and skills required. A great pleasure to work with and we would happily work with them again.

HughSenior Mine Geologist

I had been actively looking for a new role but had not seen this position, as it was not advertised. The process was quick, and when there were delays I was kept in contact and told what was happening at each stage.

KasandraAlternate Underground Manager

Honest, reliable and very good mediators between employers and candidates. I was hesitant about looking for new opportunities, however Ezra helped me secure a geotechnical engineer offer I could not turn down.

What we recruit

The mining disciplines we recruit across Australia.

Exploration and Geology

Exploration geologists, project and senior exploration geologists, mine geologists across open pit and underground, geology managers, core logging geologists, and field and geology technicians.

Mine Engineering

Mine engineers, planning engineers, drill and blast engineers and mine surveyors, recruited separately for open pit and underground operations.

Geotechnical Engineering

Geotechnical engineers, superintendents and consultants. Open pit and underground are treated as distinct specialisations, because on site they are.

Processing and Metallurgy

Metallurgists, process coordinators, supervisors and superintendents, plant training advisors and process technicians across gold, lithium, nickel, copper and base metals circuits.

Health, Safety and Environment

HSE advisors, coordinators and superintendents for both site based and city based corporate roles, including statutory and compliance focused appointments.

Operations and Support

Pit technicians, field and geology technicians, production supervisors and skilled operational staff supporting open pit and underground production.

Management and Executive Search

Quarry managers, underground and alternate managers, general managers, managing directors, non executive directors and board appointments for ASX listed explorers and producers.

Most site roles we fill are FIFO from a capital city or a regional hub, on rosters ranging from 8:6 and 2:1 through to 4:3 and residential arrangements. Roster fit is treated as a screening criterion, because it is one of the most frequent reasons a strong technical candidate declines an offer.

How it works

Our mining recruitment process.

01

Job clarification

We define the role, the technical must haves, the roster, the commodity and circuit context, and the team the person is joining.

02

Targeted search

Direct approach through our national mining network, our own database and targeted market mapping, rather than waiting on job board applicants.

03

Benchmarked shortlist

Every candidate is screened and benchmarked against your site incumbents, then submitted with written analysis rather than a bare CV.

04

Offer and aftercare

We manage interviews, offer and negotiation, coordinate medicals and start dates, then follow up after the placement to protect it.

Questions

Mining recruitment, answered.

What does a specialist mining recruitment agency actually do?
A specialist mining recruitment agency finds, screens and presents candidates for roles that a general job advertisement rarely reaches. Most experienced technical people in Australian mining are already employed and are not applying to ads, so the work is direct approach, market mapping and relationship building rather than sorting applications.
Where do you recruit?
Australia wide. Our head office is in Perth and we recruit for mining and resources operations in every state and territory, including Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania.
Which mining roles does Ezra Recruitment specialise in?
Exploration and mine geology, mine and planning engineering, mine surveying, geotechnical engineering across open pit and underground, processing and metallurgy, HSE advisory, operational support and technician roles, and management through to board level executive search.
Do you recruit for FIFO roles?
Yes. Most site based roles we fill are FIFO from a capital city or regional hub. We work across the common Australian rosters, and roster fit is treated as a screening criterion rather than an afterthought, because it is one of the most frequent reasons a good technical candidate declines an offer.
How long does it take to fill a technical mining role?
For a clearly defined technical role, a benchmarked shortlist usually reaches the client within one to two weeks of the brief. Time to offer depends on interview availability and notice periods, which in Australian mining commonly run four weeks.
