Exploration Manager – Gold & Copper

The operation

A mining company with gold and copper exploration assets in Australia and overseas. The team is based in Perth and is adding a senior technical leader to drive its exploration pipeline.

The role

The Exploration Manager will lead the company’s gold and copper exploration programs, from targeting through to drilling and resource definition. You will act as Competent Person for public reporting and work closely with the board and executive team.

The role is Perth based with ad hoc travel to international assets. It is a permanent position, hired directly with the client.

Key duties

1. Plan and lead gold and copper exploration programs across the project portfolio
2. Generate and rank targets using geological, geochemical and geophysical data
3. Design and manage drilling programs, contractors and field teams
4. Act as JORC Competent Person for exploration results and resource reporting
5. Manage exploration budgets, schedules and tenement commitments
6. Oversee QA/QC, data management and geological interpretation
7. Report to the board and support investor and ASX communications
8. Travel to international assets to supervise programs as required

What you will need

• Degree in Geology or Geoscience, postgraduate study valued
• 10 to 15 years in exploration, including senior leadership roles
• JORC Competent Person status for gold and/or copper
• Experience managing exploration across multiple jurisdictions
• Project management of budgets, contractors and field teams
• Confident reporting to boards, investors and the ASX market
• Open to expat assignments and ad hoc international travel
